Emmett and Wanda Pillault: News archive

May through September 2002

Monday, September 30

In early November, we will spend 10 days in Amsterdam! That is a very large city in the Netherlands, in Europe. We don't know who bought our plane tickets. Some one from Emmett's job called and said the tickets were purchased by someone who wants to remain anonymous - who just wants us to thank God. There will be other ministers who are going on this trip along with us, and we will be spending much of our time working with battered women and children. At this time, that is all we know. While we are there, Wanda will try to get to a computer to send information about what we are doing, to be posted on this Web site.

Tuesday, September 24

This weekend was so awesome! Friday night, we ministered in song at the Country Village in Tickfaw, Louisiana. We sang for 30 minutes and had a great time in fellowship with everyone there! The house band was great! They can play any kind of music and also have a funny sidekick who plays a washtub and tells jokes. Donna Carline, the headline artist for the evening, was wonderful. They have a wonderful buffet, salad bar, and a killer dessert bar! Everyone there is like family and you will have an adventure you will never forget. We want to thank every one of you who came out last Friday night! We did have a good time in the Lord!

Saturday, we were in Prarieville, Louisiana, just next door to Baton Rouge, at the Baton Rouge Flea Market. We thought we were going to sing just 3 songs, but it ended up being two sessions. People's hearts were changed. We ministered directly to a grandmother named Barbara and her teenage granddaughter. They both rededicated their lives to the Lord and are planning to pray together for the rest of their family who are backsliders. Her oldest son had a church, closed it down, and made an apartment complex out of it!

Sunday, We were in Jackson, Louisiana, at the Dixon Correctional facility, in the South Louisiana Forensic Hospital. We met Chaplain Smith, and he took us into not just one church service in one unit, but two services in two different units! Wow! Was God on a roll there! Chaplain Smith said we are dangerous! - and asked us to come back. We ministered two hours in each unit. Most of the people are there waiting for evaluation for lunacy hearings in the court system. They were so touched, and they received our ministry very well. We have never been in a room with so many demons at one time! Without the Lord with us, we would be crazy going into a place like this (pardon the pun). Em used the scripture of the demon who talked to the men who went in on their own to take the demons out. The demon said, Jesus I know and Paul I know, but who are you?, and beat them up! Anyway, we were fasted up and prayed up and the Lord was present! God moved there in such an awesome way! Some people in there who are really vexed with demons, others are playing a game to get out of going to court for the crime they committed, and still others have just been lost in the cracks of bureaucracy. Please keep Chaplain Smith and all of the security people there in your prayers. It is not an easy place to work. We are going back again as soon as Chaplain Smith invites us!

Monday, September 16

We left home early Friday morning, on our way to a singles' ministry at Christ United Methodist Church in Mobile, Alabama. We got to Alabama, rested for a while, then went to the church to set up. Over 200 people came out! The boiled shrimp was wonderful, and so was the other food! We watched video of a mission trip to Kentucky that some of the group had participated in. It was great. Then Em and I ministered in song. We had a ball! Some people danced. Some ate too much! And some got ministered to! Those are the ones we were there for. Of course the dancing didn't hurt anyone. They had a good time and had to dance off all that food they ate.

We didn't get back to our place in Gulf Shores until 11 pm Friday night. I had to put earplugs on to get any sleep that night - because a tropical storm was in the Gulf of Mexico, headed our way. The wind outside was blowing so hard it was whistling through the windows. But we were so tired, all we could do was sleep through it! The next morning, when I looked out, the waves were over 20 feet high! I have never seen waves that high before! Needless to say, we stayed in all day, watching the rain and the wind and the waves.

Sunday came, and we went to Foley Assembly of God Church in Foley, Alabama and ministered in song during both the morning service and the evening service. The pastor and his wife were so precious! They received us with open arms. Of course, the congregation did also. We were not scheduled to minister there. We went with our friend Mac George from Gulf Shores as her guest. You know when God puts you in a place and just sets you up? We were set up by the Lord. The pastor there is making plans for us to come back soon to minister with the youth group. We are looking forward to that.

Monday, September 2

God is so good! We had one coming home party for Otis Cuevas on Friday, and one coming home party for Melvin Page on Saturday. What special events they were!

Sunday morning, we ministered with our friend, Pastor David Rodriguez of Christian Fellowship Church in Marrero, Louisiana. It rained cats and dogs before service. But the service still went on...people came to church even on Labor Day weekend. Praise the Lord! God moved in a mighty way.

Monday morning, our friend and sister in the Lord, Wendy, invited us to go to Blue Bayou Water Park in Baton Rouge. We love to go to those places to minister. They are so much fun to be in, and people are so busy doing their own things - but there is always someone who wants to talk. A small girl - maybe 7 or 8 years old - came to me and asked whether I had seen two ladies and she described them. Well, I told her to sit a while and maybe they would come back that way! She was so afraid. You know, God puts us in special places at a moment in time - so that just a smile, and a little conversation to soothe someone's heart who is physically lost, can help them spiritually too. If I never see that little girl again, I know that a special seed was planted about Jesus that she will never forget. Of course, Emmett never meets a stranger. He got to know almost all the workers in the entire water park before we left.

Our favorites CD is almost finished! Our dear special brother in the Lord and friend Mark McCraw at Audio Mark Studios is taking special pains with this project. He wants to take time and make it sound even better than any of the other CD projects he has worked on with us. So keep Mark and his business at Audio Mark Studios in your prayers.

Friday, August 23

We worked on the favorites CD project tonight from 4:30 until 10:00 at Audio Mark Studios in Gulfport, Mississippi. All of the music is recorded. Now we have to put the lyrics to it. Emmett wants to put some guitar on some of the songs too.

Mark McCraw at Audio Mark Studios is so precious with all of his busy schedule to make time for our project. He deserves a special prayer from everyone, please? We love him and his family so much! They are our family.

The songs are not our personal songs that we have written. They are songs from way back that people ask us to sing often. So we are going to call it something like "others' favorites." Not really sure yet.

We are very tired. We wanted to get everyone up-to-date with what is going on with us. We are going back to the studios on the 29th of August to work more on the favorites CD - so please keep us in your prayers.

Saturday, August 17

A dear friend - Melvin Page, pastor of Cross Roads Baptist Church, on Highway 53 in Lizana, Mississippi - is in ICU at Gulfport Memorial Hospital. He is on a respirator! He has been in a coma for a few days. Tonight, after the Summer Fest at Popps Ferry Baptist Church in Biloxi, we went over to the hospital and prayed for and sang to Melvin. His eyes popped open when Wanda was singing "Crazy," one of his favorite songs. Praise the Lord. But he is not out of the woods yet! We need all our prayer warriors to begin praying and get everyone you know who can start praying on Melvin's behalf.

Then the strangest thing happened! Our friend Wayne Sanders from Oklahoma was there with us, and he had his guitar. The nurses of ICU came to the family waiting room, and asked us to come back with Wayne, and pray for some other deathly ill people there in ICU. Wow! We had church in ICU - singing and praying in all the rooms. We would be singing in one room and someone would come and get us to go to another room. It is wonderful to see God at work. We were there and we were the vessels willing to be used. What an awesome God we have.

Wednesday, August 14

We were blessed by this e-mail from Danny Naidoo, a pastor in Africa:

Wanda, I seem to see a great explosion taking place in your ministry. It's like one of the bombs that was dropped in Japan after the bombing of Pearl Harbour. It fell in one city, but it effected the lives of thousands of people all around the city.

I see your ministry bursting in its seems and not only causing impact within your community but also touching lives as you move with God in new paradigms.

Your ministry has a voice. Don't allow the true voice of the Lord that is coming forth from you be cut off by those who are close to you who do not have the MIND and attitude of Christ.

I don't know you Wanda - but I see your heart, it has compassion, immense love and an undying passion for God - know what He'll be sending you people and connecting you to saints globally with that same love.

Tuesday, August 13

Last night, we did a concert at Mandeville Christian Fellowship in Mandeville, Louisiana. We were there from 7 pm to about 10:45. The pastor and the church family were so precious. We had a Holy Ghost time. We never know what the Holy Spirit is going to do. We are just willing to move as the church gives the Holy Spirit liberty. The church opened their heart to the Holy Spirit and salvations came forth and healings came forth. It was an awesome night. God is so good! We got blessed with a miracle also. Praise the Lord.

Friday, August 9

We'll be back in the studio Friday, August 23 to start the favorites CD. We'll lay down the rhythm tracks first, then go back a different night to do the vocals.

Sunday, August 4

Working on two more projects for CDs! We are working on a favorites CD - songs that people request, but that may not necessarily be our lyrics - and we are working on a children's CD! Please keep us in your prayers for these projects. No dates as of yet when we will begin recording.

Wanda's grandaughter - Kimberly Marie Gibson, 10 years old - had a special experience with the Lord Jesus today! She knows for sure what "born again" means! Praise the Lord! In a church service this morning, the pastor had an altar call for salvation. Wanda bent over to Kimberly and said, do you know for sure if you would die this moment you would go to heaven? She said, sure I do. The next minute, she said that God spoke to her heart for her to go up to make sure! So Kimberly and Wanda went up. God is so good! Kimberly has that blessed assurance that if she dies this moment she will go into the everlasting arms of Jesus!

We are running into ourselves coming and going! Please keep us in your prayers. Both the van and the car are giving us little problems. We need a financial miracle!

Friday, August 2

Please do not stop praying for Wanda's daughter Tina, who is still out of work. She thought that last Monday she would be back at her desk working, but her doctor said she is not healing fast enough. Her stitches are still not dissolved. It looks like she will be out for another two weeks. She is still in a lot of pain. She does not like staying home this long - so much to do before the children go to school. She is like her mother Wanda - she just wants to keep on going no matter what! Thank you for your prayers!

Thursday, August 1

WOSM Radio (103.1 FM in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, just east of Biloxi) has called us and asked us to come do a live spot on the air once a month. Apparently they are getting calls about us. They are playing our CDs on their station too. We are so excited about this! This station opens new doors for our ministry! Praise the Lord!

In addition to our new Christmas and Hymnal CDs, we are about to do a Favorites CD and then a Children's CD. God is moving so fast. We are beginning the projects now. No date of when the sessions at the studios will begin though. So keep us in prayer.

Monday, July 15

Our trip to Saint Louis, Missouri on the Fourth of July weekend was awesome. We slept in the van we were blessed with. Wanda, who likes to sleep in the real cold, says she slept well, but jokes that even with a blanket, Emmett was so cold that there was ice forming on Emmett's nose!

The overall ministry there was awesome. Just one preacher who was with us brought 148 souls into the Kingdom.

Many of our friends have heard the story of how on a previous visit to Saint Louis, Emmett was on a train and sang "To the Vine I Cling" to the captive audience. On this visit, we heard the rest of the story! A man named Vern told us that a person he had been ministering to for several years was on that train, and that when Emmett began to sing that song, the man began to cry. Vern happened to be on the same train - and led him to the Lord. You work so hard in the heat sometimes, and you wonder whether it's worth it or not. But you never know what God is doing when you minister.

The Women's Aglow meeting we spoke at last week was so awesome. One woman had a heart problem. The doctor said there was no more he could do - but she believes God did surgery on her heart and gave her a new one. There was not a dry eye in the restaurant from 10 am to noon. We didn't stop praying for people until about 1 pm. Even Kimberly and Angel, our granddaughters, helped pray for some of the ladies.

Monday, July 1

All we can say is WOW! What a weekend of great singing, music, fun, fellowship, food, hospitality, and ministry. Yesterday we sang three times in the same day! We started off in the morning with a concert at Emmett's Fleischmann family reunion in Metairie, Louisiana, a suburb of New Orleans. Plenty of the family came out! Everything went well, except that at the last minute a thunderstorm began to run us away - but that was a good thing. We had to do a concert at 6 pm at Ames Boulevard Baptist Church in Marrero. We were there until 8:30, and then we rushed over to Anchor of Hope Baptist Church in Terrytown for their 5th Sunday sing. We were so blessed to have both churches so close together. There was no time to spare traveling in that New Orleans traffic. It was a great time in the Lord. We were blessed to see many, many folks from so many churches, out so late at night. It was a long day! But every minute was worth it! Praising the Lord with so many people. We live to praise the Lord!

Our granddaughter Kimberly won second place in her first beauty pagent at Our Lady of the Gulf Church Saturday. She won beacuse of her personality - and her beautiful looks, just like her grandmother! Smile!

Friday, June 28

God is moving so fast in our lives, we hardly have time to breathe. We have our Christmas CD done! Emmett is picking it up today so we can begin to produce it. Pray that we have time and money to get it ready for the public soon. The suggested donation will be $15 for the CD and $10 for the cassette. Of course, if you want to send us $10,000, we will not say no! (smile...)

We are traveling more and more, and any love offering will be greatly appreciated. The wear and tear on our vans and cars, traveling expenses...well, you know what we mean. We go for Jesus and trust in God to provide. (Editor's note: Go to the support page for information on making a donation to Emmett and Wanda's ministry...to the audio page for information on ordering CDs and cassettes.)

Monday, June 24

Wanda's daughter Tina's surgery went well. She's still in a lot of pain, but now it's just the healing process.

Sunday, June 16

Wanda's daughter Tina is going for pre-op tomorrow morning at 9 am and will have surgery at 6:30 am Tuesday morning. Please keep Tina and her family in your prayers. The doctors are making her take 6 weeks off for healing time. Pray that she will take this time to rest and meditate on her life spiritually, mentally, physically, emotionally, and financially.

God has blessed us! Last night we came home about 1 am, from ministering at Christina's Christian Coffee Cafe' in Metairie, Louisiana, to find in our yard a customized van with port-a-potty, microwave, double bed, closet, 4 captain's chairs, and air conditioning, and a note inside on the front seat of the van reading, "God said it's yours! Come sign the papers." WOW. God is so cool! Praise the Lord. Thank you Father God for all you do for us in the Name of Jesus! Thank you all for your prayers.

Sunday, June 9

We only have a little more to do on the Christmas CD project. We are going back to the studio Tuesday evening. Pray that it will be completed then.

Wanda's daughter Tina is going to have surgery on June 18. Please pray for a quick recovery and healing for her.

Kimberly is going to the Doctor tomorrow (her 10th birthday) to get checked, to see how she is progressing in her healing.

Saturday, June 1

Kimberly - one of our granddaughters, who on June 10 will be 10 years old - had surgery this past Tuesday: her tonsils and adenoids were taken out. She did wonderful during the surgery, and was able to leave the clinic in Hattiesburg within 30 minutes after the surgery. God is good all the time. She has been resting at home. Kimberly is staying with us this weekend. She has eaten salad, eggs, and plenty of ice cream and popsicles, and drank a lot of water and juice. She is doing great. Thank you to all who have been praying. Please do not stop praying.

Friday, May 31

Last night we went to Yazoo City, Mississippi and sang at Howells Restaurant during the 50th anniversary celebration for Pat and Sonney Alderman, a couple from one of the churches we've ministered at in Yazoo City. We sang all their favorite songs and had a great time in the Lord. They had a full house for their anniversary. Of course, the food was great! We drove all night and got home about 2 am. But it was worth it to see those happy faces for their 50th. Keep Pat and Sonney in your prayers. They are a very special couple.

Sunday, May 19

We went to Tulsa, Oklahoma this weekend. We left last Thursday night, and drove all night to get there Friday morning. We slept till about 3 pm and got dressed and went to a graduation for Mark and Linda Lyons, who graduated Friday night from Rhema Bible College. It was awesome. It truly touched our hearts. Mark and Linda are so special, and God has an awesome plan for those two. We drove back home Sunday all day and got home about 9:30 pm. We are very tired but thought you would like to know this! Mark and Linda were a part of the team that went with us to Honduras.

We took a little time off Saturday. We went to the Tulsa Zoo and had a picnic with part of the Common Ground Prison Ministry. We also got a little sunburned at the zoo. God is so good! Happy to be home.

Thursday, May 9

Wanda's granddaughter Angel won honorable mention in a national poster contest sponsored by the children's literacy advocacy organization Reading is Fundamental. She, her parents, and her brother were awarded a trip to Washington where they met a variety of dignitaries.

Monday, May 6

We have been invited to go to Puerto Rico and another trip to Honduras. We have to trust in the Lord for the finances for any invitations, especially out of the country. We are praying that God will put it on people's hearts to sponsor us for these kind of trips. There are trips coming up for all over the USA and more in the near future all over the world. If you feel in your heart that you would like to sponsor us for some of these trips, we would love to communicate with you. We are praying that God works it out for at least 25 churches to come to our aid and support our ministry for these trips. Please pray for us that the Lord touches the churches He wants to sponsor us. (Editor's note: If God is leading you in this direction, please contact Wanda to let her know and for more information.)

Sunday, May 5

For a Sunday with nothing scheduled, we sure were busy for the Lord. This morning we went to a Baptist church, Family Worship Center, on 7th Avenue in Gulfport, Mississippi. They sang songs with a video worship tape. The Holy Spirit moved in an awesome way. He turned over the service to us, and we ministered in a concert form. We had an altar call and several people came up for salvation, including two small children who accepted Jesus. There were two rededications, and also some healings. WOW. What God is doing in this time!!!!

We then went to Covenant of Peace Church in Gulfport, and had dinner on the grounds and heard Cindy Simmons in concert. Lots of tears were shed there. What an awesome time in the Lord. We then rushed over to Central Bible Church in Bay St. Louis, and ministered in song with Common Ground Ministries, who we went to Honduras with. We had a Holy Ghost time in that church. There was a prophetic word that came forth. We were in awe to see God used in this fashion in Central Bible Church.

Friday, May 3

Wanda asks your prayers for Emmett's niece, Margaret, who explains: "It was nothing serious. I had to go in to the hospital to have some tests run on my right leg. Since it had been two years since I had my left leg amputated, they wanted to see how the right leg was doing. They wanted to make sure that the stint that was placed there was doing well. And thanks be to God everything was all right, but they said that I should have that leg checked often, since I am prone to blood clots. And truly I wouldn't want to lose my right leg as well. For now I have a good pulse in my right foot."

Thursday, May 2

Today was the National Day of Prayer. The Oklahoma boys were here from Rhema. This is the group from Common Ground Ministry that we went to Honduras with. We were at the National Day of Prayer ceremony at City Hall in Gulfport, Mississippi. What an awesome time in the Lord we had. Then to finish the day, Em and I went with our friends Henry and Ann Pulsifer to visit a family who have 29 children at home. All adopted. What an awesome time in the Lord. It was the topping on the cake for the day. What well behaved children they were ranging from 18 years to 1. We are so tired we can hardly move. Am going to bed. Em is already there!
